2010
How was your first week of 2010?
Yes, it’s been a week since the New Year! How are those resolutions going? You’re not alone if you have already slipped or truthfully forgotten about your resolution. Chances are, your resolution was not much different from year’s past. We all wish to be better. We all have good intentions. But rarely do we set out a strategic plan for success. Here are some tips so you can get on track and stay on track…
1) Say It Out Loud – Live out loud. Put it in writing and tell people about what you are going to do. You will hold yourself more accountable if you know others know about your goal.
2) What Went Wrong – Identify what went wrong last time you set a similar goal. Chances are the same things will get in your way again. You need to figure out how you are going to overcome every single obstacle or challenge that gets in your way of success.
4) Have A Plan – Break it down. Break down your goal in to small, achievable steps. Maybe you’re not an overnight success, but if you take a small step towards your goal every single day – YOU will get there!
5) Make it measurable - Make sure you can measure success. This is easy to do with things like weight loss; harder to do with things like “being a better spouse”. Figure out ways that you can identify where you are starting and what will be your definition of success.
I’ve had many people ask me what my goals are this year. Well, I’m going to keep some things private in my life. Don’t worry, I’m saying it out loud to some to some people. What I can tell you is that I’ve set up goals in each area of my life from my kids, to my spouse, to my business to ME personally. The key to my success in all areas is going to be TIME. I need to
set aside specific time for my children, my marriage, my career and myself. In the spirit of Sesame Street, my letter of the year is “P”. In order for me to be success with my goals, I need to be Proactive, Purposeful and Passionate. I’m sure those things will help you in anything you set out to do too!
I will not wish you the best of luck as it is not luck that will bring you success. It is your Persistance! See, another P word! Happy New Year!
